Oh Peter get yourself organised Rennies Tumms or Bisodol.
When I cook main meals if it does not have an onion in it I am not happy and hubby sufferes for it.
If they are raw boiled or fried no difference.
So always have the tablets for him if he is not burping hes complaining and no sleep is had.
Oh by the way he loves my cooking and hes a better cook then me.
Sorry no soup recipe

Have tried this recipe for the first time this year and it was yummmy .  Lightly fry a large onion, two sticks of celery and two rashers of smokey bacon(if you like the flavour, if not unsmoked should be ok) together in about a tablespoon of butter until soft.  Then add about 2 level tblspns flour and stir for a min or two.  Add approx 1 1/2 lb quartered tomatoes( any size, any type) Add about 1 1/4 pt stock (I use chicken but suppose veg will do) and bouquet garni cover and cook gently for about 1 hour.  Remove bouquet garni, sieve or puree with electric blender and sieve to remove the seeds.  Return to the pan, add seasoning to taste, spoon of single cream if liked.  Scrummy with a dash of Worcester sauce and some fresh crusty bread.
