Title: best seeds (germination)
Post by: grotbag on June 12, 2009, 21:04:57
Hi all,on my site we buy our seeds from suttons (normally get 50% off cos of the amount we buy) . This year a lot of the plotholders are'nt happy with their germination rates,so we are thinking about changing suppliers. So who do you think supplies the best seeds?

Franchi lettuce are unbelievable you get loads in the packet and they all seem to come up and they are all sweet and juicy.  Most of their stuff is excellent, but their broad beans are a bit poor on the flavour front.  Found some of their climbing beans are rather popular with the slugs.  They do not do runner beans at all.  Fantastic choice of courgette and seeds last for several years so you can have several varieties on the go at the same time.

Moles, Kings or Franchi all work out cheap.
Kings offer discounts for bulk orders, Moles & Franchi offer proper bulk packs at reasonable prices.

Another vote for Kings here.  They are cheaper than most rivals and very reliable. I only go to other seed companies if I am after a specific variety Kings do not sell.

My horticultural society sell Kings, which most members seem happy with.

Here's a confession - I've never heard of any of these suppliers. I've only ever come across the likes of Suttons or Unwins (this year I used Dobies). Where do I find out about these others, are they only for bulk purchases ? A4A is surely widening my horizons!
