how tall do these grow, I've googled and found the bit about the flowers all being on the top, ta for info ;D
Ours get to about 5' but with a bit more damp in the soil I reckon they will reach 6'+ :)
ta, chuck, off to find some more supports ;D
Here's some I prepared earlier.......

;D
looking good ;D
I misread this and thought it said 'salmon flavoured peas', thought how clever is that!!! ;D ;D ;D
now, that would be interesting ;D ;D
what a nice looking pea! And a nice post on Daughter of the Soil about it too
Mine were only planted out last week. They've got interesting-looking reddish edges to some of the leaves.
They are lovely. Where did you get the seed?
My prettiest at the moment are Latvian

I though pea flowers were white until a couple of years ago.
What are the Latvian peas like? I managed to track down one reference out there when I saw your post just now, but very little in the way of detail. If you have any seeds later I'd be interested!

I thought I'd bred a new variety until I read this thread :-[
I had one red flowered pea appear last year so I saved all the seed from that one plant to grow on this year... Oh well.
There are a lot of red-flowered peas, but you may have an accidental cross, which would indeed be a new variety!
The truth is Robert, I've had a disastrous year for peas. Very few have come up and the ones that have are less than 12 inches with very few flowers.
I've even bought myself two packets of Ambassador today, supposedly OK for a late planting in an attempt to get a reasonable crop.
We grow the yellow mange tout and they have light blue flowers changing into mauve as they develop. very pretty. Trouble is that this year they are growing taller than ever
I waited till May, planted in pots under cover, and they're now romping away. I had to replant a couple of varieties though, and I'm way behind a lot of people.
I have some yellow podded growing - I shall look forward to the blue flowers, have set them to grow up my sweet corn.

I like Latvian. They came from the Heritage seed Libary as my welcome packet as since my Grandmother came from Latvia I felt an attachment to them. I will hopefully have some seeds in the autumn. Remind me about it, I am rather scatterbrained.
They are very very cold hardy. I sowed them in early March (after chitting) them under bottles. Once they were growing well they got let out, they have weathered frosts, wind more wind and even more wind. They are very poor at grabbing hold of anything so have a rather untidy habit.
They produce good pods for mangetout, rather small but very early. They are currently in full flower. Ther mian oddity is that the peas do not have a pea flavour. But they are delicious little sweet bombs eaten raw. Cooked they are sweet.
They are supposed to be able to make a sort of humous with them, but I did not have enough peas last year. So I have grown lots with this in mind. But at the moment they are disappearing as mangetout.
If you expect your peas to taste like peas then this is not the pea for you. If like me you do not particuarly like the taste of peas then Latvian is great.
OH didn't like the golden Mangetout... so I stopped growing them. I'll trade you some Salmon flowered for some Latvian later if you want... :)
OK Saddad you are on. Hopefully will have them, though lost loads of seeds to a mouse/hamster last year. They were drying off nicely and then there they were gone, pods emptied. Only a few left apart from the teeth marks.
OK... won't be on line again til Thursday pm at the earliest. Off to camb. should have set off half an hour ago... ::)
It will be sometime before I have dried peas available I am currently far too busy eating them.
