Title: Water lilies
Post by: caroline7758 on June 07, 2009, 13:30:41
I have a very small pond and the lily I have is getting too big for the pond. I wouldlike to divide it and offer it the divisions on freecycle but is it too late now for this year?I would hate to lose it.

Bumping this up- and adding another question. Is it bad if the lily leaves are covering the wholeof the pond? I have two large goldfish in there.

You should have crystal clear water caroline if no sunlight is getting into the pond.  I don't think the fish mind at all if it is covered with lily leaves but if it was me I'd break a few off so they can get a bit of sunshine, of course if it ever comes out again.

I know the fish are cold blooded but mine seem to love to sunbathe

What lilly is it caroline? There are varieties for small ponds.
Coverage is useful for minimising blanketweed.
