Title: Re:Parsnips
Post by: minxy on June 07, 2009, 09:48:08
Yet another question from me, sorry but you are all so knowledgeable and I really appreciate your advice!

I had a lovely row of parsnips growing and I decided to thin them out however instead of just taking a few out to thin them I dug up the whole lot and reset them spaced apart. I realise now it was definitely not the correct thing to do. They all wilted within minutes and the frustrating thing was they were all perfectly formed young parsnips!  :(

Will they recover, some look like they are ok or have I ruined them completely  ???

Thanks in advance

I think only time will tell, although they probably have a better chance in this cool, wet weather. You did brilliantly to get a whole row germinating- they're nor easy. Hope they survive!

They may recover but even so i doubt if you will get a good result as you will have snappd the tap root.
Parsnips is one of them plant you can,t transplant.
