Title: Sweet Potato Slips
Post by: meg_gordon on June 05, 2009, 20:29:30
I ordered 5 each of Beauregard Improved  and T65 from T & M - and Beauregard arrived today.  All five of the slips look dead - they are hanging over the glass of water I put them in as soon as they arrived.  I've never grown them before, so I dont know if this is normal?  Should I persevere and wait til they "perk" up a bit.

Thanks for this guys - I dont have any experience of these, so I was a bit worried about shouting, but have just taken a picture of these poor wee things hanging out of a glass of water, and sent to M&T - will keep you updated ....

Good luck, I ordered 30 and managed to save 15. Have complained three weeks ago, heard nothing complained again today. Could spare a couple of Beauregard.

Saddad - thanks so much for your kind offer - can I come back to you after I have a word with the supplier on Monday?  I am angry enough to spit feathers - so they'd better listen or else >:(

I've got one potato slip that I grew. How should I plant it.

Sorry Saddad, I got a refund from T & M on Monday and a replacement 5 slips which arrived yesterday.  Put them into water immediately and four out of the five have perked up - but thanks for waiting for me - never grown sweet potatoes before - have balanced (with supports) growbags on their sides and put a slit along the top - thought to put three slips in one growbag and two in the other.  Will that be enough room for the plants?  This is obviously in my greenhouse.
