After sowing loads of different bean seeds the other week (from a seed swap), they are now looking like they should go in the ground.
How high supports do I need? I think I got it completely wrong last year.
As far as I am aware, I've got runners, french beans, dwarf french beans, climbers - all sorts!
(The broad beans were planted ages ago direct on the plot with no support).
ooo exciting init!
I find climbers need 6 or 8 ft canes
The dwarf beans don't need much, I've got a few posts/canes (3ft) round mine with some string crisscrossed to keep them tidy more than anything else, a lot of people don't bother tho

Dwarf French Beans benefit from a peastick to keep them upright, so that the beans are held off the ground (less slug damage). The rest need 6-8' poles as rows or wigwams. If you have a lot of varieties I'd go with wigwams. :)
