Since the buds appear long before they open, you're unlikely to get extra flowers. But they'd look neater.

I say yes as after they try and make seed pods ,so wasting  energy

My beautiful peony (on the allotment) is in full bloom.  Every year when this happens we either have rain or strong winds.  I have picked some and have put in a vase and as the plant gets too top heavy have to tie it up.  I dead head as the blooms fade otherwise it seems to collapse.  All the flowers I have taken to the allotment (too big for the garden) are doing well, but all the veg. unless netted not too good.  Thinking of making a large netted cage for next year.  Have some very fat pigeons on site.

I've only got one flower on mine this year, and I've got several massive plants. That's down to two years of waterlogging.
