Hi,
If people want this plant I would be happy to send them some cuttings of it when the time is right.
I have a picture of it in my gallery if you need to be sure it is what you want.
PM me and I will see what I can do for anyone.
It is good for all kind of things, not only making up liquid feed but you can put an amount under a newly planted plant to aid their growth.
This was told me when I were a lad and it has been a great help to establish new plants who are greedy.
I have put it under my runners for a few years now and boy do they love it.
Have tried under some of the plants in me garden and await the signs of good growth. Hopefully this is better than the miracle grow sold on the shelves.
Will be having its haircut soon and then the bees will have an autumn drink before they settle down for winter. ;D

If anyone is still looking for comfrey, I will be lifting and seperating in the not to distant future.
Donations via the website and Sae to me via a PM if you want to.
I shall be generous in the cuttings and the roots should take quite easily.
They will also be washed and cleaned off before posting. If needed I shall wrap them in bubblewrap.
i would love some, but, how do i donate to the site and how much?

Poppie1,

Well, here are the flowers that have been showing their little heads off for the bees.

You decide and let me know whether they are from the right plant or no.
I think they are but who am I to know. I am but a grower not a person who can identify them.
I go by what I have been told they are. If I am wrong then I will hold my hands up to those who know better. It always is a learning curve this identifying lark. I go with the flow and hope that there are things and people who can help in these matters. Not been one for books, just love pictures more than study.
That's comfrey in the foreground landimad. The bees do love it, don't they. Can't tell from a picture whether it's Bocking 14 or not. Do you get seedlings self-setting around it?
Is that an old photograph or are your Batchelor's Buttons flowering very very late??!!
ceres,
The plant does not self seed, and the aformentioned plant is a Kerria Japonica or as I like to tell the kids Pineapple bush.
You've probably got Bocking 14 then.
Yes, Kerria Japonica is also known as Batchelors Buttons. Mine looks exactly like yours but flowers in Spring.
This one was lifted back in the spring so I guess it is waiting for the season to catch up. I did not know that it was called bachelors buttons though.
ALL,
Those wanting their bit of comfrey, would you PM me and I will be sending out the root cuttings soon.
Just butting in on this thread to ask, is it ok to take root cuttings in the first year- got some from tonybloke this year and they've done really well and I would like to have more next year.
divide in the spring, mate!! comfrey dies back during the winter, cover the crown with straw, when it shoots again in the spring is the time to lift and divide, (it's a soil temp / day length thing) ;)

..i'm still interested ,spring is fine as well...
Tommy,
Not a problem if you still want it, PM me nearer the time and I shall put some by.
Well,
It seems that the comments and some deep reading on this subject, I think as has been advised to me through this thread that cuttings would be best taken in the spring or a bit earlier when the shoots start to show.
So if all persons wishing to get their piece or pieces nearer to the time, I will send them a PM to see whether they still require it.
I have already placed names into 2010 diary for me to remember to PM at the start of March 2010.
There is plenty to go round but the cost of posting it will be determined by the size of the cuttings and/or root sections chopped through.
Hi
Just wondered if I was still in time to request some as well please as I notice you're cutting it next year? :)
keepondiggin,
Please PM me the address and I shall add you to the list of those wanting.
