Title: Kolkwitzia pruning.
Post by: grannyjanny on May 27, 2009, 14:20:31
I've got a Kolkwitzia shrub the flowers are beautiful & the bees love them. The only problem is the said flowers are only at the top & a few at the bottom. Can it be pruned after flowering & if so how far can it be cut back. It's on a north facing aspect, could that be the problem?

this explains it well, it's all about timing!! immediately after flowering, to allow new growth which will be next years flowering parts.

Thanks Tony. That looks very good. I should be able to manage it.
