Title: GCSE Biology.......allotment knowledge useful?
Post by: Deb P on May 21, 2009, 10:03:54
My daughter sat her Biology GCSE yesterday, and said it went 'OK'..(about as much info as you get from her). I pressed for more details.....

As the most reluctant allotmenteer in the family, she made me laugh when she said her time on the allotments had helped her answer one section....all about composting! She was vaguely horrified how much information she had picked up passively, and as the majority of the paper was focused on Botany her lottie knowledge had helped!

Sounds like the exam boards are asking useful questions at last.......... ;D ;D

I remember in my final exam one of the questions was about disease affecting pear trees.Luckily only a few days before I had been reading about it on here. ;D

Lucky her to have the option of doing separate sciences. My youngest is in Year 10 and the GCSE Science course is an insult to any one intelligent. The version my older son did was bad enough but Edexcel 360 is just a waste of time and he wants to do A level physics which is a giant leap from the Physics covered by this course.
