I am collecting my new rescue dog on Sunday and only one thing will be a problem.
I regularly take off to a couple of days away in a B&B. When my folks did this with our dog in the 70's, dog stayed in the car in its basket during the night and was let out very early in the morning for a wee break.
Anyone have any other ideas? Dog won't stay at home if I can help it! The cat will though :)

Do you really have a B&B?

Sorry Gen no b&b.
Iment the dog can come and stay with us
while you go away.
Kennels are not an option to us after the last time.
and would definitely not let them sleep in the car.
having said that some b&bs do take dogs by prior arrangement
we took ours to the strand at rhyill a few years ago twice on the trot
If you do a Google search you will find plenty of B&B's that cater for dogs , :)
Wouldn't it be best to leave it at home with someone looking after it? I presume you mean there is someone else at home when you go away.
I couldn't imagine leaving a dog in it's basket in a car all night on it's own.
If I had a dog it would go with me every time and no matter where, no dog no me. I think that's the commitment you make when you take on an animal.
Have decided I'll hire a dog sitter if one of the other fosterers is not available.
I have no problem with leaving dogs in cars overnight in their dogcages. They are alone all night in the utility room anyway ay home! I'd park the car outside my bedroom window.....
I wouldnt leave an animal in a car overnight as it could get stolen, or just 'liberated' by a do-gooder!
There is all sorts of accommodation that will accept pets.
I hate kenneling my dogs but it is just not practical to think you never can do it.I miss them when I am not with them but they are always fine when I pick them up.
I would love to take mine camping with us but I know they will bark at night when they hear someone making a noise.
I do not think the car idea is a good one.All sorts of things could go wrong.
Try looking on here, they have places listed that accept dogs. It's got to be better than leaving the poor thing caged up in the back of a car.
