Is there likely to be a reason why the fruit at the bottom of a gooseberry bush drops off apart from being blown off by the wind, :)

Maybe an equivalent to June drop? Perhaps the bush has started more berries than it can handle.

Its because the bush knows you can pick the bottom ones off without scratching your hand.

How very true!  I am lucky that the goosers are hubbys favorite so they bite him not me!
