Title: mountfield empress

hi all,prob not best place to post this but; i have an old mountfield empress  petrol mower but it needs a new drive belt .I cant see how to remove the old belt at the drive end .Any experts out there, please help

              which model of mower do you have the Mountefield Empress I have seen is a rotary petrol mower with a cutting blade direct on to the drive shaft, :)

yes, sorry mr smith meant to say mine is a power driven petrol mower. its the belt thhat drives the rear roller i got probs with .

          From what I can see from a diagram you have to remove the cover from from the belt side of the mower to get at the belt, just have a good look at it before you take any bits off there could also be an adjuster to slacken the belt so it comes off with no problem :),

If it is belt driven and self propelled surely there is also a third pully on a lever to pull the belt tight only when the motion hand control is set to the "Go" position. The drive wheel should just spin freely when the machine is in park position.

What is the problem exactly? Has the old belt snapped or just come off one pully wheel and got stuck?
