Title: Redcurrants
Post by: pippy on May 18, 2009, 15:57:55
.... actually they are green at the moment! ;D

The question is:  when do I need to get the nets on them? Would kind of like to get a crop for me rather than the birds!

Net them now!
Bird can and will eat your currants long before us humans can.

Righto - thanks !  Those and the strawberries will be on my list of jobs for tomorrow! :)  I only put the redcurrants in the winter before last so this will be my first fruiting - so looking forward to it!

Pigeons love them and the pigeons are so fat down our way that they break all the branches when they sit on them ;D
I learnt the hard way and made a fruit cage ;D

It's a swings and roundabouts thing... we have four bushes and yes the birds take some but we still get far more than we can ever use...  :-\
