Post by: compo49 on May 18, 2009, 10:44:31
my soil is on the acid side. can i put some  lime on the top of the soil and water it in  before i put in seeds/plants so as to make it a higher pH or is it too late.
also i have planted onions about 4 wks ago  can i  put some lime in between them and water in or not.
Appreciate any help in this matter.

Liming is normaly done Jan/Feb to the area where brassicas are going to grow, I also lime the hole I'm planting in and sprinkle a little on the surface, don't mix it with manure though, TG will be along with his slide shows soon, get yourself some popcorn and make yourself comfortable and he'll be along shortly.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

While we're on about it, anyone know of a good supplier of it? The lime I've seen looks pretty expensive.  :-\

Brilliant - thanks TG.

Need to have my laptop on the allotment at all times to consult your guides - got one of those 3G cards so could get internet.  Just got to convince work that I should be based on the lottie !
