Title: watering in the rain

can the veg under cloches find water? its been tipping down for 3 days now

Maybe ...or maybe not. Try making a hole in the soil and feeling if it is damp.

I'd be inclined to take the cloches off for an hour or two. Sit in your shed with a flask, a bacon sandwich and a good book and remember to put them back on when they've had a good soak.

some of ours get the rain through them,some dont ,as others have said,depends what style they are and what they are made of,feeling the soil beneath is a good way of finding out

depends lots on what's under there, deeper rooted things can find their own  :)

I always find I have to water anything under cloches. I suppose a flood would wet them adequately, but I only use them for a short period in spring, and we haven't had the floods then.
