My son's intended has chosen a black and white colour scheme for their August wedding
I'd appreciate any ideas about how i can grow some plants which conform
I think there are scabious which are white & almost black. There is a rose Black Baccara, a deep maroon red. It's beautiful, 2 of our daughters had it in their bouquets. Sweet peas I think called Phantom (as in the opera). Scabious black ballI am sure there will be lots more info coming up.

Hmmmm. If it's early August then Lily White Heaven (a longiflorum variety) would be lovely. There are lots of Fuchsias which might fit the bill including 'Happy Wedding Day' (although that one does have pink tinges) and how about Nicotiana f. alba? I can't help with black flowers.

great are there some auriculas that may do the job
what about grasses anyone know
I have seen some black, dried foliage and that would work ornamentally planted with white.

you might be thinking of Nigrescens - a small black grass, if you google the name there are some nice pics

If all else fails a couple of cans of florist colour spray. I take it the plants are for the table and church arrangements as well as the button holes. When you cut the flower take all the excess folage off and put then in deep buckets of water somewhere cool. If black proves to be a problem you could use black crystals, feathers, ribbons etc as contrast as well as the flowers. And grow at least 10% more than you think your going to need. Good luck.
Hello Daxzen and welcome to A4a

And the foliage of Black Elder, also there is a black Pittosporum and a black bamboo.

some great ideas here
it looks like i have my work cut out for me though
time to get busy!
though with you help I'd rather work smart!
Don't think there is such a thing as a BLACK flower or plant. It will be a very dark whatever and will look odd.
When I'm not gardening, I'm an artist, so I know my colours. Best to stick with masses of white with different textures and heights. Stick to white flowers and then nothing will clash. Dont use ANYTHING artificial, it will look awful. You could incorporate white pebbles or sand, whitened driftwood etc in the table arrangements.
I will leave the "proper gardeners" amongst us to tell you the names :D
Gen in NBL where the soil is nice and moist after all the rain.............
There are near-blacks, and a few among the whites would make a good contrast if nothing else.
Bride a Newcastle United supporter by any chance? The way the teams playing I'd be hiding my NU footall shirt, they are rotten!
