Title: Please help the Born Free Foundation
Post by: Gardengirl on September 21, 2004, 19:21:39
I am a member of the Born Free Foundation who are currently running a petition to stop the sale of ivory.  If, like me, you are outraged at the numbers of elephants who are needlessly slaughtered just for their tusks to be made into trinkets etc, could you please sign the Petition and also ask your friends to do so.  Details can be found here http://www.bornfree.org.uk/elefriends/petition.htm

I saw the Corry Street actress's appeal about the Ivory trade on GMTV and felt quite moved by it, very sad and very greedy people.

I'm also a member Pat and this barbaric killing  has got to stop!!! >:(
Although I have already signed the petition I got Ian to sign it tonight and have filled in all 5 spaces so that friends and family (who all feel as outraged as I do about this dreadful trade) can do the same.

Thanks for making others aware of the needless and torturous deaths elephants suffer for nothing more than greed.

Eileen.

Thank you all - I hope that others here follow suit :)  It gladdens my heart to know that there are other folks here that feel as passionately about these issues as I do. I knew you were a caring lot :-* :-* :)

Just out of interest, there is also a petition to save Africa's lions

Pat It breaks my heart that these people can hurt those beautiful majestic animals :'(. I really love Elephants they are so beautiful,
if only i could see them in the wild it would make me so happy.
I went to Colchester Zoo when the baby was born 18mths ago, and to see how they were looking after that baby was a joy.
I think the 2nd baby must be quite big by now also.
I have sent all 5 spaces to my friends to sign .Let us hope one day soon all this cruelty will stop forever.  Rosebud.

Tried to sign but could not get the page will try tomorrow.
A few years ago went to Sri Lanka and to there elephant oftenage. To see baby ones being feed milk in huge bottles and the bulls in enclosers and to be able to walk up to the females with babies while the mamuts where there and pat and stroke a baby something so unreal.
Then down to the river to watch them bath a wonderfull site I will never forget that day.
Truly amazing animals so trusting one young one had stepped on a land mine and had its leg blown off and survived.
