I have quite a large strawberry patch. I started with 12 plants, not got a clue what they are but one type is early, the other later. I'm sure they're both members of the Cambridge family.

I transplanted dozens of runners into 5, 17 foot rows. This year I have twice that and they've already started throwing masses of runners, most of which I'm pulling off. I'm going to replace the 3rd season rows this year  but only with plants taken from parents that produce the biggest and heaviest fruit.

I can't understand why the plants are so expensive to buy, they reproduce and spread like weeds. From 12 plants 3 seasons ago, I've now got enough to supply the Wimbledon final.
