Title: Galvanized barrel
Post by: grannyjanny on May 09, 2009, 22:11:01
I've brought a galvanized barrel home from the plot as i want to use to make a liquid feed with manure tied in hessian & dangled in rain water. What is the best way of cleaning it please.

don't clean it!! except with soap and water. if you abrade the surface, it will only oxidise again. ;)

Shouldn't need anything other than a swill out before you start... what's been in it that needs washing out?

Just a general clean really. It's a bit green in places & mucky inside as OH bunged soil etc in when we were clearing the plot. Will it be ok to knock it about underneath as it doesn't sit flat. I am going to put it under the greenhouse spout to collect rainwater. It's going to take forever for the butts to fill at the plot so when I have a chance I fill the watering can up several times & put it in the butts.
