Went down to the allotment early today, and there was a cuckoo in the hedge. Really makes you feel that summer is on its way.
Surprised it managed to find its way, it has been so windly this past week.
I heard a cuckoo in the woods next to my plot on Saturday. was nattering to one of the old boys at the time but we both stopped to listen.
had one of those "the sun is shining, the veg is growing, and all is well in the world" moments, and the cuckoo was the icing on the cake ;D
Every year we hear the cuckoo in May.Normally in the distance but one day very close.Lovely sound. ;D
Danish Islands
I heard a cuckoo yesterday, May 12th, for the first time this year.
Down by my caravan at Tewkesbury I hear the cuckoo every May.
I live in Meriden and for the first time here I heard the cuckoo this morning.I have never heard it in Meriden before.
I was really pleased as I saw a news report that says cuckoos are in decline.

I once camped under a hawthorn on Arran, without realising that a cuckoo used it as a perch. It's definitely not a lovely sound when the blasted bird is deafening you from a few feet away at 4am!
;D ;D ;D
