Title: Sweetcorn
Post by: Twoflower on May 09, 2009, 08:44:31
Can i mix normal hybrid sweetcorn and a old variety sweetcorn? My darling 2 year old daughter managed to step on two of my hybrid sweetcorn, and because it's last years seed i haven't any spare, but i do have spare plants of the non hybrid. Will theypollinate each other or should i scrap the lot?

They will, but as home grown is so great I'd just grow them anyway...  :)

Since you're only growing a small amount of corn, you can grow them well apart (say 20 yards) and they shouldn't cross-pollinate so you'd notice.
