Title: grazing rye
Post by: sawfish on May 07, 2009, 16:58:47
Can anyone tell me where I can get grazing rye online or by post for a cheap price? Or suggest an alternative that isn't related to brassicas like mustard.

£10.50 for a Kg, I'm not sure whether that's cheap or not!

£10.50 for 2.5kg Robert. That seems good. I'll wait until autumn though. Isn't clover more for sandy soils? Fenugreek looks interesting.

I wonder if the fenugreek seed sold in my local asian food shop would grow? Its about a quarter the price.

This sort of thing

I know the mustard seeds work!

I remember Bob Flowerdew saying that some of the gren manures, rye included, weren't that great if you didn't have a tractor to turn it in.  I found some mention of it here (http://www.growveg.com/growblogpost.aspx?id=49).  They recommend phacelia, poached-egg plant and winter field beans.
