Title: french beans and pests
Post by: trickydiggy on May 04, 2009, 19:15:50
hi all,

can anyone tell me what are the main pests for french beans (climbing and dwarf) and whether they are less likely to destroy plants put in when they are about 20cm tall?

oh and will slugs/pigeons go for kale or beetroot seedlings?

thanks, TD

pigeons will eat anything >:( I don't think they've got any specific pests unless there's a bean moth I haven't heard of..... slugs early on  and mice on the seeds and pods I would have thought,  aphids on the leaf stems and bottom of the leaves, cutworms in the soil etc......
