Title: Ladybirds
Post by: Manouche on May 02, 2009, 21:16:03
Beautiful sunny day in Portsmouth today so went to Allotment for the day.

I just could not belive my eyes when weeding out my Onions.

Everywhere I looked there were Ladybirds, haven't seen that many for years.

Have they appeared on yours or are they just Pompey Ladybirds.

Looks like a bumper year for ladybirds here in Denmark Manouche. I haven't seen so many for a long time.

By the way, did you know that Fratton Park, spelled backwards, is Krapnottarf?  :o

Haven't seen many in my part of North London so far this year.  We need them to eat the aphids!

They've been noticeable by their absence so far this year!

They  overwinter in large numbers in one of the conifers in our garden, once a year they come out and the tree looks as if it is in flower.  Never understood why they favour that particular tree.

Saw one ladybird this afternoon.  It has been extremely windy here so expect they are keeping a low profile.

The only Ladybirds I'd seen until today were Harlequins.   >:(  But there was a two spot on my Buddleia today so I'm now a happy bunny.   :)
