Just fitted a new handle on to my favourite fork, does anyone else use a west country style fork?[attachment=1]
What are you doing using a West Country fork so far east.... ???
looking after my back!!
I have a shovel like that. Great for chucking manure :)
I'm after a new fork. All my cheapo ones keep bending their right hand tine. :(
Anyone know of a decent make?
I like the look of yours Tonybloke but are they strong?
MP
I still use my Grandads fork.My Dad put a new handle on it & I've just renewed the tines. ;D

You would be better looking after your feet. I would not let you on my garden in that footwear.
Mushy Pea I would suggest you look at Bulldog forks, you can often find second hand ones at car boots for a couple of quid each or I believe they currently have 57 different forks to choose from on their website, all high quality & there is bound to be one that suits your needs.

I don't wear those for working in, Ace !! I use proper PPE when on site. ;)
Looks just like the manure fork I`ve been using for the last 50 years - but I haven`t needed to put a new handle on mine.
We used them on the council, termed as a prong not a fork. A 'four grain prong' was the local term used for it. (don't ask me why). Old Freddie used one to capture a shot down german pilot.
Another use was to get the backsmith to bend the tines and make good tool for dragging clay lumps back into a grave.
Down in Kent we used them for moving hay and straw about. Had no idea they were only west country use.
How about when you are only 5ft tall ::)
Reckon I would have probs with that ;D
anyone remember the old ronnie barker saying in the two ronnies, so is it forkandles your after or four candles tonybloke........ ;D
spades and forks are always too short in the handle, it's like nobody's over 5 foot 2. That makes much more sense.
