Title: Best Insecticide For Ants
Post by: srcollection on May 01, 2009, 17:38:53
Back in 2007 I abandoned ficam for use on ants and started using Master ME (chlorpyrifos) and found that my call back rate for ants dropped dramatically but of course like any insecticide which actually works they've banned it so I'm back to Ficam.

Has anybody used/found a suitable replacement for ME, preferably another encapsulated product and had any degree of success with it?

It looks like being a good ant year so I want to cut my remedials to the minimum.

We have ants in the house (a common problem), my wife puts talcum powder on the places where they come out and it seems to kill them after a short time. They don't like copper either.

We buy ant traps 2 in a pack & they have been very successful inside & out. Approx £2.99.

If you have a problem regarding ants "looking after" aphids - the ants are after the sweet stuff. I remember on one Gardeners Question Time - Bob Flowerdew used jam as a distraction.
