Title: Available Allotments in Leicestershire
Post by: sara_c on April 30, 2009, 15:31:06
I am new to "Growing my Own" but would like to take on an allotment so that I can expand on the few bits and bobs that I have been growing in pots in the garden.
I live in Markfield in Leicestershire (which is near to Coalville), does anyone know of any vacant allotment plots???  My Parish Council have advised me that I could be waiting at least 5 years for a plot in the Village!!!
Any suggestions would be more than welcome.
This is my first posting as only found the site and registered today, so I am sure that I will be joining in with other postings soon! ;D

Hello and Welcome to the site Sarah.  Have you seen the thread about the plant/seed swap at Ellistown allotments on Sunday 11-12... that might be a good place to start...
:)

It's in the Swap section...  ::)

Thank you all for posting replies.
I have seen the eags posting and I do know of them.  They do brilliant work with and for allotment holders!
I believe that these plots are only available for residents of the Village?  I also think that all of their plots are already taken with a large waiting list.

Thanks "thifasmom" I will definately check this website out.

Sara,
I'm also in Leicestershire LE13, on our allotments several people have started to share their allotments with others because of demand, why not take a walk down to your local lotty sites when people are about andenquire about if anyone wants to share?, :)

Hi,

We're in Shepshed LE12 (if you know the area we're just off leicester road) our site has just developed about 12 new plots so the wait list has reduced if not completely gone, if you give the town council office a call they can put you on the list or advise if there are any plots still available.

Good luck.

Cheers :)

Hi, just seen your thread, we have just accepted an allotment from N.W.L.D.C, (coalville) we have half an allotment at George Street, whitwick, there are many up there that are not tendered to and over grown, you could try them, 01530 454545 and ask for Rosie Biggs (allotments) hope this helps.
