Title: exotic fruit?
Post by: gardentg44 on April 28, 2009, 08:26:41
Ihave a spare greenhouse this year approx 13x10x8,

any suggestions on what to fill it with?

been thinking about small orange or lemons etc,

does anyone grow these?,

can they do well in our climate?

A lot of seed supplyers sell them will they grow?

and produce fruit?

Peach/nectarine Apricots will do well in a greenhouse. Citrus can be tempremental as they don't like a really cold winter snap...  :-\

Why not grapes, they will definitely work. The huge greenhouses at Chatsworth House had whole 'houses given over to just growing grapes.

I'm not sure if you mean just for this year or more long term? What about passion fruit, you could try seed from a shop bought fruit. Or might be a good space to over winter a pepino with a bit of frost free care. I've got a few citrus which do ok, handy for a G&T!
