Does anyone have experience of saving their own seed? I have thousands coming up in the school greenhouse... as I suspected I might... being an open trumpet I would expect them to cross easily...
Anybody know? ???
I find they self-seed prolifically. I usually just prick out and transplant the ones I want to keep. If I am sowing fresh seed of a variety I haven't tried before, I don't cover them with compost, just leave them on the surface and keep it damp. They germinate very easily.
Sorry this is not much help!
I save mine each year. Once the seed heads go brown and papery I pop them in a paper bag and store till the next season. When ready I just crush the heads and get out the little seeds.
I used to have lots of varieties and they seemed to always come true to colour.
Excellent, as I was going to put some up for the sale, to save starting fresh ones.. :)
During the 60's there was some fuss - questions asked in Parliament etc about this plant. It can be used for making drugs of some sort??
I'll stick to a nice glass of wine once the sun goes down....
They were paranoid about evil drugs in those days, you could go to prison for having a 'cannabis reefer'. If nothing's been heard since, it didn't amount to much!

It contains a chemical distantly related to LSD, and as a teenager someone told me you could get stoned on the seeds. I ate a whole packet, which gave me a nasty bellyache and no trip.
It could have been worse - see this cautionary tale! http://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=64940
you were lucky then... :-X
