Title: Strawberries
Post by: katynewbie on April 25, 2009, 16:36:33
I have never grown much soft fruit so don't know what to expect. My two strawberry plants have overwintered happily and are looking very healthy, despite being ignored and now are a mass of glossy leves and about 10 flowers on each. Is this normal? Seems a bit early to me, especially here in the north west!

Mine are not flowering so you are lucky.  They sound to be doing fine.  Around September time, do take runners to give you more plants for next year. ;)

Ours are flowering too, including the wild strawberries that were planted as seed last year and the babies that they had too :)

and mine have masses of flowers too. I also bought some late ones from Marshalls last year and they seem to be coming on fine although no flowers yet as you would expect. I'm looking forward to strawberries in September though.
