Title: Do pigeons eat leeks?
Post by: Trixiebelle on April 25, 2009, 10:41:25
I have a dilemma!

Just taken on a space in someone else's allotment to plant my surplus seedlings but they keep pigeons on their plot?!

I've got loads of cabbages and sprouts to plant there (I'm going to make a cage to put over them) but do the little darlings eat leeks?

PLEASE SAY NO!!!  ;D

 :-\

Pigeons are gits! In my experience they eat everything, wouldn't trust them with anything!

We have lots of pidgies - they shred any brassica but leave the leeks alone. Mind you, it could depend on how hungry they are...

Thanks  :)

Think I'll risk it then!

Ollie ... they're racing pigeons so they're very well fed and looked after. Mind you, they'd have to fly bloomin' fast if I caught them anywhere near me leeks  ;D

Surprisingly enough leeks seem to be safe from Geordie pigeons too.  ;D  At least in my experience - they ate the bloomin' cabbage plants, left the leeks well alone.
