I have just noticed that my Sungold tomatoes are starting to set flower trusses. They are less than a foot high and are outside on my verandah. This seems a bit early to me. Should I pinch out the flowers until the plants get bigger?
Certainly sounds early to me-I'm surprised you have even got them outside already! But sorry, can't help with what you should do!
If it is correct to have the first truss of flowers before planting out, then surely it's OK when they are out?
But even in the Worcester area, I would have thought that they would need protection until late May?
They are not out out - they are on a verandah against the house and the verandah has a covered plastic roof. It is really light out there and it gets lovely and warm in the day (currently 18.1 on the deck and 17.3 in my house!) and stays mild at night too. I find that all my little plants do really well out there and as I don't have a greenhouse or any space within my house I don't really have much choice either ;D!
don't pinch out the flowers!!!!
