Title: Fluffy little balls?
Post by: Squash64 on April 22, 2009, 09:08:55
You know those fluffy little balls of eggs that are sometimes underneath pots etc?  Well, one of them hatched inside the greenhouse yesterday producing hundreds of tiny spiders which suddenly appeared on a white plastic milk bottle.  Please, someone tell me that they are spiders, and not some dreaded pest!

must be a mass hatching time for them cause i had the same thing on sunday both in the greenhouse and in the shed. one minute there wasn't anything next there was a load of spiderlings. it was so sudden in appearance that for once my daughters did not run screaming in the next direction ::) but stuck around to look at them more closely, kept them occupied for about 15 minutes :). i hope the ones in the greenhouse stick around and eat any aphids etc that are around.

While this may be classed as spider worrying, I love finding a cluster of spider babies and giving something nearby a sharp tap & watching all the spideys abseiling!
