Title: I've made a little fau'par.
Post by: PJW_Letchworth on April 20, 2009, 23:00:10
I planted my main crop and second early potatoes last week.  Not a problem there, but I think I may have muddled the trays up I chitted them in.  Now I don't know which spuds are in which bed!  That will teach me for not paying attention and chatting to my brother!

Is there any way of telling which is which when they grow?  The main crop is Desiree and the second early is Charlotte.  Are theleaves different or are the flowers a different colour?

i would of thought that charlotte would flower earlier as it's not a main crop like desiree. But i am not an expert ;D

If you dont want to dig up a trial spud to see what colour it is (Desiree:red, Charlotte:yellow),

you can wait for the flowers,  Desiree are pale purple with yellow centre, Charlotte are white with yellow centre.

Alternatively, check the colour when your eating them.
