after planting potatoes, 6" deep should they start to appear?

Depends on the soil temp but about 2-3 weeks...  :)

Planted my Rocket earlys 18/3/09. Put a line out, made a small groove in the soil and covered with more soil, about 4" high. They are now poking their heads through.
