Title: edible ginger?

has anyone grown edible ginger if so how, was it under glass or on the allotment?

I'm trying in a big pot in a sheltered spot in the garden, it's developed roots but no stem as yet.

I grewsome last year on a sunny windowsill.  Root veru tasty indeed.

Indoors until beginning of June then on sunny paved patio.
