Post by: manicscousers on April 15, 2009, 15:35:58
all my sweet potato cuttings died over winter, bar 1..this started to look yellowy so I've planted it in the poly, under a glass cloche..it seems to have picked up so maybe sweet potatoes after all, both the ones I had to grow slips from went mouldy  ;D

I'm growing a few slips too - how many do you get with each plant (if all goes well and on average....) so I know how many plants I need? I dont have a greenhouse but would probably plant through black membrane for warmth.
Thanks for any info

A good mother tuber will produce 20 -30 good slips before giving up. If that is not enough, take cuttings from the rooted slips once they are big enough.

Hi Debster. As you only need 2 does that mean they give a good crop. I was a bit worried as I only have about 4 on mine.
