Can you grow peas up bamboo canes? I don't have any twiggy twigs and really hate netting... ???

Reddy,
I'm growing peas up canes because I'm doing what the chap across from me did last year, what you do is put your canes in on an angle about four to six inches apart going one way and then go in the opposite  direction with your canes and intertwine them with the other canes making like a patchwork, putting canes in straight up I don't think will work, I've just put my peas in this morning,

This may be and probably is a silly question but... could I put canes in like for runners and wrap string around so they have something to grab on to? :-[

I use wigwams of cane, and spiral string round. There are all sorts of ways to do it, but they do need planty of points that the tendrils can wrap round, otherwise even if they don't flop, the first bit of wind will blow them flat.
