Title: Not Again
Post by: Uncle Joshua on April 09, 2009, 21:32:03
I just went out to the greenhouse to water my plants only to find them all over the floor and I couldn't save any, I was already weeks behind because I have an injured shoulder but now it looks like I'll have nothing to grow this year because I simply can't afford to replace my seeds.

Gutted.

I was just going to say the same thing - I was a bit ambitious with the seeds I bought this year!

Doesn't look like I'll be doing anything this year Mick so have plenty to spare if you let me know what you need?

To be honest, I'm so down about it I'd give anything a go, I normally have a set list if what I grow but I've just got right into cooking so would try anything.

Sorry to hear that.  I'd be gutted too.  What was it - kids/weather/animals?

Post a list of the kind of things you like to grow - I've got loads of spare seeds and I'm sure a few of the other seedaholics do too!

Lauren S, your blog is in my favs...

A list...

I hadn't got anything in the ground yet...

Runner beans purple queen and  streamline

Pea Kelvedon Wonder

Cabbage  Minicole F1

Cauliflower Wallaby

Courgette  All Green Bush

I could type a full list for hours but as I said if anyone can spare a few seeds I'd be happy to grow them and will post up how they went.

I'd just like to say thank you for your kind words and offers.

To answer  ceres's question, it was down to the weather, I thought I 'd placed the greenhouse (one of those plastic ones) well as it was against a fence on two sides but it looks like I was wrong.

I don't have any of those varieties but have plenty of others, so if you don't mind trying some alternatives, pm your address and I'll pop some in the post.

Plastic greenhouses have their uses but they're also accidents waiting to happen!  At least it's happened early enough that you can get sowing again and still get things in the ground on time.

I've got All Green Bush, Minicole & a few spare mini-caulis (can't remember the type now!) & prob a few other bits & bobs you could use.
Let me know if you want anything.  It happened to me a couple of years ago before I got my glass greenhouse & it's heartbreaking.

Now I know I will NEVER buy a plastic greenhouse. Good luck with the new start, Mick.

They're OK as long as they're well anchored. They need a solid base screwed down into breezeblocks or something equally heavy.

Not sure what to write here...

I have had loads of seeds sent to me, its truly amazing, I have sent everyone a PM thanking them for their kindness but someone didn't put a name on the package they sent so I thought I'd better say thank you here...

Thank you to everyone who sent or made me an offer of seeds you're all fab...

Mick, I've only just seen this and I'm sorry to hear your loss but pleased to hear you're getting more positive now - and yes, great peeps here 8) :-*

Don't forget, tho, to put any other wish-list things into swap shop - we don't actually want swaps and are always happy to seeds seeds go to good homes...

now then...tumbling tomatoes perhaps? (seems approppriate ;))  And how about a couple of sunflower seeds to cheer you up 8) ;D

Hi Mick,

Like Hyacinth, I've only just seen this. Please PM me if there are any gaps - I'm long on most things this year, for instance sweetcorn Kite and TZ6157, leeks and dwarf french beans.
