Title: Permaculture
Post by: RSJK on April 04, 2009, 18:32:28
Just watched Natural World on BBC 2 and it really got me thinking about the future of food production in this country.
The programme was about the crises which is going to face us when oil runs out and the effects it is going to have on food production. I was alarmed to hear them say that there is now only 150 thousand farmers left in this country and the effects it is going to have on there way of life when oil does run out. It is the first time i have come across the world of Permaculture and i am now very intrested in it.  It is not often that a programme makes me sit back and think but this one really did.

Is there many of you that know about permaculture and if so do you mine sharing your views on it please.

i am not too familiar with the world of permaculture but i do visit the 'its not easy being green' forums and on there there is a whole board dedicated to permaculture ( you will need to scroll down a bit) which i think will give you loads of information and links to other sources of info.

Don;t know if it was the same program I saw a while back but they did just let slip that the average allotment gardener produces 14 times more tonnage per acre than farmers do.

When the oil runs out the simple solution to the food crisis is to get rid of the farmers.
