Title: Triffidism
Post by: saddad on April 01, 2009, 22:34:05
(http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e190/Plot52/DSCN2509.jpg)

During one of the posts today I referred to Triffids but wasn't understood, here's one I photographed earlier this evening. The one on the right has had the tap root checked by being started in a loo roll but not getting into the ground soon enough, so sent lots of secondary roots off. They tend to twist around each other as well. So if you pre-germinate your parsnips don't leave them too long......  :-X
I snapped the one on the left, but the second one shows the length of taproot they can make. Sorry they are blurred but it was going dark so the camera needed longer for the exposure... and I can't hold it steady long enough!!

If one grows parsnips of triffid proportions, does one become a triffidist, a triffidite, a triffidater, a triffidor, or is there another name?

At the moment I'm a triffideater... mainly as soup, we want the bed for spuds...  ;D

Watch out you don't end up as the triffideaten!
