Mine are in the ground!
planning on planting out mine sometime this week
ive got three in already, the rest will go in at the weekend, once they are about 4 inches or so,which they may well be by then!
I have just read the sunflower posts! yesterday I planted just 4 seeds from my parrot mix! Sure they wont miss them! In my greenhouse now, so looking forward to any result! Any tips for super growth?! Or would that be a secret!?! ;D
Hi clackers welcome to the site.
dont no any thing about sunflowers but welcome anyway
just transplanted 48 from my saved seed, last year ;D
bung them in, let them grow, transplant outside and watch for slugs ;D
Welcome to the site Clackers... mine are still in the packets... ::)
Hello! Mine are still in the packet too :-[ Should I start them off on damp kitchen paper, do you think?
started mine yesterday ;)
never tried them on kitchen paper, hyacinth, just bunged 'em in grape containers and leave them to it ;D
Planted my Russian Giant in modules on 23rd March in unheated greenhouse and now have 5 out of 6 between an inch and two inches tall.
done mine now really luv cutting sunflowers
Trying to resist as I always do them too early! ;D
Quite liked Alys's idea of using tin cans on GW last night.
Mine are all mostly up and will need potting on next week....couldn't wait as usual! ::)
Mine are in today hope they all grow!
I started some off in pots a week a go on wednesday they had sprouted by sunday, they are in the conservatory tho
Would love to grow some small ones for cutting to have in the house.
Can anyone recommend a good small one please.
Thanks x
hi manouche
I grew Music Box last year they get about 3ft tall, they are multi headed and mixed colours (i think I posted a pic here, try searching). Also I like Pastiche, another multi headed mixture, but about 4-5ft tall. Vanilla ice are recomended by Sarah Raven, I grew them too late last year so didn't get many flowers but those I did get were nice - paler yellow and smaller flowers and about 3-4ft tall
Hope this helps
Jayne
here's my pics of Music box

been told there's one called pastiche, not sure how tall they get .
planted the ones from our saved seed yesterday, in the squash bed, my version of a 'two sisters' bed ;D
oops, just read your post, calam, glad you know the height of pastiche ;D
