Which cabbage variety will you be planting?
green ones :D :D :D
None! What about you TGG?
Primo, Minicole, January King,
the tundra ones from a seed offer a few months ago.
TGG - why bother growing them when you can buy them so cheaply form the supermarket? Don't bother growing anything this year - sit at home, watch telly, drink a few beers and spend all day long putting pointless posts on websites.
You could try getting a life though - :P
I like pointed ones and grow greyhound OH likes round ones and we grow primo and drumhead, the drumhead is nice shredded in a salad.
For winter it will be savoy and some spring cabbage for later.
Cauliflower is supposed to be part of the cabbage family and we will certainly have some of them. We prefer them to summer broccoli and calibres.
We like to stir fry cabbage with onions, spices and chilli, it is much nicer than that squishy stuff you get if you boil/steam them slightly too long which is easy to do. It takes no oil because you just keep adding a little water as it dries out. I think a lot of people are put off cabbage because they have only ever had it boiled but even if I do just boil or steam it, I add olive oil flavoured with garlic and chopped fresh herbs like parsley, marjoram/oregano.
im going to give that a try sounds great ( purpleheather )
We like cabbage... and all the greens!
Greyhound/Primo, Filderkraut. Tundra/January King/Savoy. Kalibos and Negra these being red ones! ;D
I am going to try loads this year. My OH buys loads to feed our rabbits and guinea pigs so I hope to supplement this as we now have a second plot.....
Primo and Hispi for summer.
Stonehead for autumn.
Tundra for winter.
Celtic for late winter.
Offenham '2' and Spring Hero for spring
