Does this fit in this section? I have recently got a whole bag of multicoloured 'play balls' that I am using for topping canes and making structures for draping fleece, etc from - from freecycle. Also have a great metal cage thing from a skip that will either be for putting leafmould in or protection for my crops.
I'd be interested in what other free bargains others have got....
i have just made a frame to keep the carrot fly out (hopefully) using wood from the skip at my sons school and 2 hula hoops from frecycle, i asked for blue water piping but nobody had any but i figured hula hoops would work jut as well.
last year i got a huge peice of brand new debris netting of freecycle, you just gotta love it!!!
Lots of freecycle addicts on here, gwynleg. I got ball-pool balls as well, plus two washing-line posts that are part of a support for my Jerusalem artichokes, a washer drum that I use for burning stuff, some manure...
I always checkout freecycle
I got these from freecycle, plus a coldframe, row markers, greenhouse glass, demijohns for making wine and other bits and bobs!

i have mainly given away plants and small appliances but have recieved a concrete fence post, tons of bricks, picket fencing, piano, bulb planter, old garden hose, paving slabs a plenty, spent rabbit beding and poo and lots more, its really a great idea.
in the last three weeks at least three garden shredders have come up and a leaf blower/ vaccume but i keep missing out :(.
We got a 6x8 Greenhouse from Freecycle :o ;D!!!!!
Duke
Want a laugh?
I got a greenhouse from freecycle too...advertised as a 8x6,only 2 panes of glass missing.
Got it to the plot, put up the frame, made the base and went to lift it on.
You guessed it....I made a 8x6 base.....the greenhouse was actually 8' 4"x 6' 4"
Whos a silly boy then ;D
Fork !! :D
Duke
received rhubarb, mini greenhouse, seed trays, pots, cold frame, wheelbarrow etc. coffee table, dining table
given away futon, raspberry canes, mobile phone charger and lots of small things.
I run the Solihull site and see so many fantastic things being passed around. Yet to receive a greenhouse though!
i was looking for free bark chipping on the net and stumbled across this site and posting, its a bit to far for me but thought it might be useful for someone else on here.

Gwynleg, how funny - I've just put a request on my local Freecycle for plastic balls for the exact same purpose! Am using plastic milk bottles at the moment, they're not very pretty.
thifasmom - what a great site - wish that were nearer to me!! I am sure others can make good use of stuff from there

I think there is a site like this in every county? ;)
If anyone knows of a Yorkshire one (other than freecycle) let me know!
or one in Kent?
up early this morning, I spotted this in a skip!
[attachment=1]
Asked the householder if I could have it, he said yes, and anything else in there you like!
so I had this!

not bad, eh? all stainless steel barbeque, one-off, made for an oil company in Gt Yarmouth ;D ;D
Picking up a tumbler composter tomorrow from my freecycle. Also picked up a small plastic one from free ads in local paper today. These are great places to find stuff. :)
The wood for my bed-edging came from a skip (the sides) and a found pallet (the ends) - and the corner uprights were from the 'To Let' sign that our letting agency never bothered to take away.

A friend who is an uber-freecycler gave me the wire for my cloches, the plastic came from the bins at Topp's Tiles.

We largely furnished our house from Freecycle - it's fabulous! We even got our dishwasher there. :)
(Apologies, picture linking doesn't seem to be working for me, normally I link to Flickr, and that works - to my blog, it doesn't appear to.)

Caroline 7758 and Thifasmum - if you put 'materials exchange' + either Kent or Yorkshire - it takes you to a more local site to you - there is one for Hertfordshire too - looks like a great site for lotties - topsoil, barrells - lots of things a lottie holder could drool over. I am coveting the barbecue that Tonybloke has got!
just had a couple of 1/4 pound burgers cooked on it! yummy ;) (very late food, been to flower club night) ;D ;D

Try www.vskips.co.uk
Latest acquisition.
The push mower can't always cope with the grass at this time of year up at the plot so........

Took an emery board and a little squirt of WD40 to the spark plug and it's a goer!
