Title: Can I get away with pruning blackcurrants now?
Post by: chriscross1966 on March 22, 2009, 20:15:40
My plot has come with a few blackcurrant bushes but they've overgrown a bit and basically block access to my shed.... Is it sensible to give them a general pruning now, or just cut back the bits that "have" to go to allow me in and out of the shed.... or could I even get away with moving one of them? I've got to do somethign otherwise the shed will disappear....#

You can hack bits out/off now but will loose some of the fruit. If the buds are swelling I wouldn't move one... strike some cuttings in October and/or start again where you want them...  :-X

Thanks.... I'll chop an access through and then address properly in the autumn....
