Title: PROBLEM WITH PEA SEEDS

first year i am having this problem sowed my pea seeds and some have sprouted but others have got mould on them what am i doing wrong help nothing else in the greenhouse is suffering from this only my poor peas :'(

Are there drainage holes in the trays?  I normally lose a few that don't germinate, maybe they are old seeds or have got damp and spoiled..... the mould may just be growing on the ones that weren't good to start with...    :(

Are they warm enough? If the temperature's too low they could be rotting because of that. You could try them on the windowsill to start off.

i've pregerminated peas indoors for the first time this year, and it's been a stunning success. two lots of peas and one lot of mange tout are planted out happily now.

I always use a copper fungicide solution to water in all seeds, maybe that's your problem

We were having this same question last year if my memory was correct i think it all came down to a bad batch of peas , germination temp various things

My tuppence haporth is;

The hot weather last week and possibly compost was too moist result......they cooked!

That is they were too warm!

Were they subjected to bright sunlight?

was just that a lot of people were having a simular problem sowing peas last year if it was a bad batch or weather couldnt say but i re sowed a little late didnt seem to have a problem then

I always start peas in pots under cover. It protects them from both the wildlife and from low temperatures. I'm not starting them till next month though.

think it was bad seeds have got some new ones and re sown try again all other seeds of different plants was fine thank you for replys

I agree but once you have settled on the varieties to grow you should be saving your own seed anyway.
