Title: Allotment visitor centre
Post by: tim_e on March 13, 2009, 21:18:56
Hi
The organisation which I work for want a new 'centre' to there alotment sites. This will be used for education of young children and a sharing/ sale place for allotment holders.

Does any one know, or have an allotment where this sort of thing is available? I would be very interested in any case studies. The new centre may incase a habital space, although for the nature of the alotment I want it to be 'low-techy' to preserve the natural nature of the allotments.

Any comment or suggestion of what as a allotment owner would like in a centre of this description would also be welcome.
Thanks
Tim

Welcome to the site Tim.  :)

We have school visits to our allotments and have turned half of the site office into a community room. We have toilets on site and an Horticultural "Museum" and a schools plot and Greenhouse...
Whereabouts in the country are you? What is this mysterious "organisation"?
;D

Hi
I'm just down the road in Nottingham, (St. Annes). We have four plots and trying to do something to get people more interested in bio-diversity and organic food production. But originally I was tryin to tick all the boxes and get everyone involved, but no I might be thinking a little different. Which allotment are you at?

Cheers :)

I'd recommend a visit to Saddad's site! Plenty of inspiration there. :D
