should tax burgers, fried chicken and pizzas then, people eat much more of that cr@p than chocolate

Chocolate in its pure state is pretty good stuff, lots of antioxidants. Its the milk fat and sugar that is put in most chocolate that makes it unhealthy. Good dark chocolate is lower GI than bread, so people don't tend to binge on it.

They should tax the vile processed muck like chicken nuggets and high sugar snacks with no nutritional value, and ban all artificial additives.

It is simply another case of

People with not enough to do trying to make out that they are doing something.

It was said, all this would happen as soon as the anti smoking brigade got the smoking ban through. They would start on every one else's pleasures.

I remember when the government subsidised the price of sugar as an essential food.
